Monica’s culinary inspiration stems from her exposure to various cultures beginning at a very young age.  Born in La Paz, Bolivia, she grew up in Chile, Jamaica, Pakistan, and Honduras.  Her father, of Hungarian and Ecuadorian descent, met and married her mother while in the Peace Corps outside of Cusco, Peru.  His subsequent job took them around the world, instilling a love for travel that continues to this day.  Images of shopping the local colorful markets around the globe with her mother, particularly those in her hometown of Cusco, carved a great imprint on Monica’s memory.  They are responsible for the environment she has strived to create with her restaurant, Q’ero, a restaurant of great integrity, committed to the craft of cooking and the pleasures of dining.  Consistent with the “Slow Food Movement”, Q’ero continues in its quest committed to tradition, great taste, and cooking as an artisan craft that brings communities together in various ways.
